The High Court of Maldives had issued a verdict، backing the order of Criminal Court، to keep the Chairperson of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)، in Police detention.
The court issued the verdict during the appeal hearing held today.
Ali Waheed was detained along with AP leader Imran Abdulla and JP deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim، following the May 1 opposition’s mass protest.
Meanwhile، High Court had also backed the Criminal Court order to keep AP leader Sheikh Imran in detention، however، released JP deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim from detention.
