The Election Commission of the Maldives has notified all the political parties to submit the fingerprint on the registration forms submitted to the commission.
An official at the Commission told local media that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)، Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP)، Adhaalath Party (AP) and Jumhooree Party (JP) have been notified to submit the fingerprints on the registration forms.
He further said other parties will also be notified to submit the fingerprints.
Elections Commission has decided that forms without fingerprints should be re-submitted with fingerprints by 31 December 2015.
The Political Parties Act states that the registration forms should contain name، address، identification card number، age، fingerprint and signature. The Act was in effect since 2013.
Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) was formed after the Political Parties Act was enacted.
