The newly elected President of Sri Lanka، Maithripala Sirisena has extended an official invitation to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to conduct an official State Visit to Sri Lanka at the earliest convenience.
The invitation was conveyed during President Yameen’s telephone conversation with President Sirisena to convey his congratulations on Sirisena’s victory in Sri Lanka’s Presidential Election held on Thursday.
The two heads of states have discussed on further ways to concrete the bilateral ties between the two countries.
On behalf of the Maldivian Government، Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon has paid courtesy visits to the newly elected President of Sri Lanka، Maithripala Sirisena and the new Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.
During the meetings، Minister Dunya Maumoon has commended the people and the Government of Sri Lanka for the smooth transition and the exemplary democratic values shown.
The meetings were also participated by Minister at President’s Office Mohamed Shareef Hussain and the High Commissioner of Maldives in Sri Lanka. Zahiya Zareer.
