First Phase of Thilafushi Logistics Terminal Completed

The first phase of the Integrated Logistics Terminal project in Thilafushi has been completed, according to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). The newly developed container depot has a capacity to hold 2,000 containers.
Under this phase, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed construction of a 60-meter inner quay wall, an additional 15-meter quay wall, and land leveling work.
The project aims to provide a long-term solution to the space constraints faced at Malé Commercial Port and Hulhumalé International Terminal. MPL stated that the next stage will include the installation of workshops, an office building, and light posts, which are expected to be completed within three months.
Commercial port operations will be relocated to Thilafushi in phases. Once the new port becomes fully operational, the existing port in Hulhumalé will be converted into a transshipment port. North Harbor and T-Jetty will also be moved to the new terminal area.
MPL said that after the completion of both phases of the Integrated Logistics Terminal, space issues at Malé and Hulhumalé ports will be resolved, enabling more efficient cargo clearance operations.
