President meets Fohdhoo Island Council, WDC, and institutional heads on key development priorities

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the N. Fohdhoo Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to deliberate on the island’s key developmental priorities. The meeting took place today at the Fenaka office in the Atoll.
During the discussions, Council members outlined several proposed modifications to the harbour area currently under development. They underscored the need for a multi-purpose hall and addressed staffing requirements for the island’s school. They also requested that the old powerhouse building be handed over to the Council and expressed concerns over the challenges facing the island’s waste management system.
WDC members highlighted that the island’s considerable size contrasts with the inadequate wages allocated for cleaning work, which they said do not match the scope of the tasks required. They further called for the expansion of the futsal grounds. Participants also stressed the importance of establishing a point-of-care facility in line with the Administration’s wider initiative to enhance the national healthcare sector.
In response, President Dr Muizzu assured attendees that the issues raised would be thoroughly reviewed. He also provided updates on ongoing projects, with additional details shared by cabinet ministers and heads of state-owned enterprises.
