The Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened self-service banking ATMs in ten additional islands in Sh. Atoll, expanding ATM services to all residential islands of the atoll.
The new ATMs were established as part of ‘Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM’ initiative launched in 2024, aimed at expanding ATM services to all residential islands of the Maldives by the end of this year.
The new ATMs were established as part of ‘Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM’ initiative launched in 2024, aimed at expanding ATM services to all residential islands of the Maldives by the end of this year.
It comes after the BML recently expanded ATM services to all residential islands of N. Atoll and M. Atoll.
BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef noted that the initiative is focused on delivering solutions that meet the needs of customers in their own communities.
“We take great pride and satisfaction in delivering this project at an accelerated pace, with the introduction of ATM services in 37 islands within this year. Our dedicated team continues to work tirelessly to ensure that by the end of this year every inhabited island is equipped with an ATM” he said.

“By extending our reach to these islands, we’re making banking more accessible, allowing residents to access essential banking services without the need to travel to a branch.”
He also highlighted the usage of the Bank’s ATM network across the country.
“We’ve seen significant increase of financial activity from customers outside Male’, with over MVR 1.45 billion deposited via our atoll-based ATMs this year alone. This clearly reflects the vital role these services play in the lives of the communities we serve.”
The expansion of ATM services in M. Atoll reinforces the bank’s position as the Maldives' leading financial institution, with an extensive network comprising 39 branches across all 20 atolls, 133 self-service banking centers, 188 ATMs, comprehensive agent banking services, and advanced digital banking solutions.
Alongside its growing network of physical access points, the bank continues to invest in digital channels and partner services to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
