MTCC seeks public feedback on Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has opened for public comment on the redevelopment of the outer Boduthakurufaanu Magu of Male’ City.
MTCC has developed an online form to gather public comment on the project, which will contribute to the completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The survey will identify the types and volume of vehicles used as well as the extent of use of the area.
The form includes information on the segments that will be developed under the project. MTCC is inviting comments on these segment plans as well.
The redevelopment of the stretch between the Henveiru Terminal and the Fish Market was awarded to MTCC in April this year. MTCC had earlier said that the section of the road would be widened, with two-way travel made more accessible, and additional parking spaces. A drainage system will be installed at the northern end of the road.
The project will cover the development of 830 metres of road and 737 metres of sheet piling. Additionally, the preparation of the tar subbase, establishing a separate pedestrian lane, installing a drainage service line, installing street lights and installing road signs are part of the project.
MTCC was awarded the project at a value of MVR 144.5 million with a completion date of 455 days.
