UNWTO Secretary General to visit the Maldives

Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili has announced he is scheduled to visit the Maldives in October.
He is scheduled to visit the Maldives to participate in the opening ceremony of the 15th UNWTO Asia/Pacific Executive Training Programme on Tourism Policy and Strategy.
This is the only programme of its kind in the region and is renowned for its stimulating content and thought-provoking discussions. The programme focuses on high-level officials within their respective governments across Asia and the Pacific region provides a platform for sharing knowledge and experience, to learn of successful practices in policy and strategy formulation and implementation.
Secretary-General Pololikashvili made the announcement of his visit to the Maldives at the 33rd Joint Commission for Asia and the Pacific meeting. At the meeting, ministers of 29 nations discussed identifying the challenges, exchanging ideas, and activating the solutions to restart tourism in the region.
The ministers also discussed the proven resilience of tourism in the face of previous crises that gives confidence that the tourism sector will bounce back and return to strength.
