President of the Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla has said that the opposition leader, former President Mohamed Nasheed was arrested to divert the focus of the people from the case of the former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim.
Sheikh Imran made this remark in a statement he tweeted yesterday following the arrest of Nasheed.
The President of the Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran also refuted the claims of the foreign minister of Nasheed’s regime Ahmed Naseen for accusing the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed of spreading the ideology of the Islamic State and Levant (ISIL).
Sheikh Imran said that Dr. Shaheem is a pioneer in spreading the correct ideology of Islam in the Maldives. He said that he trusts Dr. Shaheem fully.
During Nasheed’s regime, Sheikh Imran and Sheikh Adam Shaheem was labeled as terrorists on the official website of the President’s Office.
