Productivity rate will increase by 2% this year – MMA

Central bank of Maldives، Maldives Monetary Authority states the national productivity level will increase at a rate of 2% during the current year.
In the MMA released economic review of last year، 2014، it has evaluated and assessed that the Maldivian national productivity level will increase to a total of 10.5% during the current year، which is a 2% bump from the 8.5% of productivity level recorded last year.
Although the central bank estimates the productivity level of Maldives is expected to rise according the mentioned level by the end of 2015، MMA had also warned that due to a forecast of tourism “slow down” during the year might result in not achieving the total estimated productivity level of 2015.
Central bank reports the reason behind the productivity level increase is mainly contributed by the introduction of various civil and national projects in Maldives، along with the introduction of taxation from gas and oil while the increase of taxation from other prominent goods will result in the increase of government revenue collected in the year.
