President Office’s minister Mr. Abdulla Ameen has resigned from his held designation.
Based on insight received to “Vaguthu Online” Mr. Ameen had delivered resignation letter to President، and he did not come out for duty today. So far it is uncertain if President Yameen had received and responded to the resignation letter or not.
Both Mr. Ameen and President Office’s administration were unavailable for a comment on the news.
While Mr. Ameen has presented his resignation letter to President’s Office، he had been a significant member participating in the talks between the state and opposition MDP. Along with Mr. Ameen، Fisheries Minister Mr. Mohamed Shainee، and Home Minister Umar Naseer – who is acting as the head of the talks on behalf of government – have been meeting with MDP’s parliamentary group leader Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
A discussion meeting between state and MDP has been scheduled to take place tonight at 22:30hrs.
Meanwhile، Mr. Ameen is expected to be prosecuted for the offense of corruption. He is prosecuted for pardoning the fines of the corporation responsible of the development work of Thaa Atoll Thimarafushi airport – the company had failed to meet the deadline of concluding the project.
The case was presented to Prosecutor General’s office last December to evaluate and conclude a decision over prosecution proceedings، while it is expected Mr. Ameen’s prosecution case will enter court in a near future.
