Former president of Maldives، and the leader of the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim’s was framed.
On a tweet posted today، former President Nasheed said that Nazim has been framed and the welfare of every citizen lie within the efforts to free him.

Meanwhile، the leader of Adhaalath Party، Sheikh Imran Abdulla had also urged the authorities to free Nazim to ensure the fundamental rights of every citizen.
Nazim’s arrest came under allegations of conspiring against government for a possible coup d’etat and for acts of terrorism for possessing illegal fire arms and explosive devices. Authorities raided his residence on January 18th during midnight، following which Police had arrested him on February 10th for the allegation charges made on him.
While Nazim has been arrested and Court had remanded him in 15 day detention، his legal team had appealed to High Court over the detention، to which the court had denied to rule out Criminal Court’s sentence.
Nazim’s legal team is currently trying to appeal his case to Supreme Court.
