Saudi Arabia Donates 25,000 Quran Copies to Support Religious Education in Maldives

In a significant show of support for religious education in the Maldives, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated 25,000 copies of the Holy Quran to the Maldivian government. The handover ceremony was held at the Islamic Centre hall in Malé, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and the Saudi Embassy.
The copies were formally handed over by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Saudi Embassy, Fahd Al-Dosari, and received on behalf of the Maldivian government by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed. The Qurans will be distributed to Quran classes and memorization centres across Malé and the atolls.
The Islamic Ministry stated that the donation will directly contribute to ongoing initiatives to expand Quranic education, including memorization programs, throughout the country. These efforts aim to strengthen Islamic values among youth and promote religious learning at a grassroots level.
Officials noted that this donation aligns with the government’s broader strategy of increasing access to religious education, especially in remote islands where demand for such resources is steadily rising.
The Ministry expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their continued generosity and support of the Maldivian people.
This donation reflects the strong and enduring ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the area of Islamic cooperation and shared values.
The 25,000 Quran copies will serve as a key resource in enhancing the effectiveness of Quran programs nationwide, as the Maldives continues to invest in the spiritual development of its younger generation.
