Massive Immigration raid launched in Addu City

A large-scale operation named “Operation Hama Magu” has been launched in southernmost Addu City to track down illegal migrants.
According to Maldives Immigration, the operation, which was launched on Wednesday, is the largest such raid this year targeted for Addu City.
The operation will be overseen by Controller General of Immigration Ahmed Faseeh and Deputy Controller Ahmed Ashfan, with participation from 35 Immigration officers as well as Addu City police and Council members.
The raid is part of the government's efforts to solve the long-standing issue of illegal migrants in the Maldives, Immigration said. Since President Dr Mohamed Muizzu took office in November 2023, over 6,000 illegals migrants have been deported from the Maldives.
