Three companies contracted to build 75 police facilities

Three state-owned companies have been contracted to develop 75 police facilities.
Maldives Police Service, on Thursday night, signed with Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Fenaka Corporation and Road Development Corporation (RDC) for these projects.
The Police, citing President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has declared this year, as a year of infrastructure development, said the agreements signed pertain to 75 infrastructure development projects.
In this regard, 15 projects were awarded to MTCC, 40 to Fenaka and 20 to RDC.
According to the Police, 70 residential islands were without police presence when the current administration assumed office. As such, the Police said the agreements signed last night would see the establishment of police presence across all islands with specifically allocated facilities excluding islands where residents will be shifted under centralization policy.
Police added that upon completion of the project, half of the residential islands in the Maldives will have modern police facilities, which will help reduce budgetary expenses and deliver services more efficiently and promptly.
The facilities developed under the project will include regional and atoll-scale police facilities, island police stations, police posts and police accommodation blocks.
