The Maldives has set a target to host over 300,000 tourists from India this year.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said India is an important market for the Maldives’ tourism sector and it aims to attract more than 300,000 tourists from India this year. Marketing efforts have already been launched to achieve this goal. These include a summer campaign, campaigns in collaboration with major Indian airlines and partnerships with renowned tour operators, MMPRC said.
As part of promotional efforts, MMPRC recently organized an event in Mumbai titled 'Maldivian Night', featuring over 100 artists and influencers.
India was the top source market for the Maldivian tourism in 2021, 2022 and 2023. While 209,198 tourists visited the Maldives from India in 2023, this number declined to 130,328 in 2024, dropping India to six place among the source markets.
