The inauguration ceremony of newly appointed two judges to Criminal Court and magistrates to magistrate courts scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.
The inauguration ceremony was scheduled for 20:00pm on Sunday night at the Supreme Court.
However, the event has been cancelled. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) did not disclose the reason behind the cancellation.
A total of 48 applied for vacancies in the Criminal Court, including former judges. JSC, after interviewing the shortlisted applicants, selected two for Criminal Court judgeship on Saturday. According to sources, they are: Muzammil Nasir and Ahmed Shaafiu. However, JSC has yet to officially announce their appointment.
Notably, two new judges were appointed to the Family Court recently.
