Man convicted of stealing money safe rearrested for intimidation

A man convicted of stealing a money safe from a pharmacy in Male’ has been rearrested on suspicion of intimidating people.
Abdulla Muthuim Mohamed, a native of GDh. Gadhdhoo, was presented before the Criminal Court for his remand hearing in the latest case against him on Saturday.
At the hearing, the state requested for Muthuim to be jailed pending the outcome of his trial. However, the judge ordered for him to be remanded in custody of the police for 15 days, citing that a decision on whether to jail him pending the outcome of trial will be decided during the trial itself.
Muthuim was previously convicted of stealing a money safe from the Central Medical Center in Male’ after breaking into the pharmacy with a group of other individuals on June 4, 2020. He was ordered to pay a fine of MVR 28,800 in the case.
Two years later, Muthuim was arrested again on suspicion of luring a person to the Shark Fins guesthouse in Male’ on August 2, 2022, holding him hostage, and beating and robbing him.
