Two arrested with box cutter intended to be used in attack against another person

Two people have been arrested for alleged involvement in gang violence while in possession of a box cutter intended to be used in an attack against another person.
The suspects arrested based on a tip received to intelligence regarding their involvement in gang violence have been identified as a 19-year-old and a 34-year-old.
Both suspects stand accused of possession of a sharp-edged or dangerous weapon in a gang or group.
According to their remand order, a box cutter was discovered under the seat of the motorbike driven by both individuals and one of them had admitted that the box cutter was intended to be used in an attack against someone at the scene.
Both suspects were remanded in custody by the court for seven days on Wednesday.
Notably, the arrests related to gang violence come after President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Monday, citing Home Minister Ali Ihusan, said only a few groups remain that could be classified as gangs. The President added that former gang members have stopped committing crimes and are now living normal lives.
