He made the remarks in a message shared on social media to mark 134th anniversary

The President expressed sincere appreciation to the MNDF for its dedicated service to the country, both day and night. He also extended greetings of the occasion to soldiers and their families.
The service of the MNDF officially commenced on 21 April, and the date is observed annually as Army Day.

Further events are scheduled in the coming weeks, including a military parade to be held in the capital on 2 May. The official ceremony is set to take place on the evening of 9 May, with the participation of senior government and military officials.
The ceremony will recognise soldiers who have demonstrated outstanding service in various fields, as well as members of the public who have supported the MNDF in different capacities.
