Hulhumale’ Phase III dredging has reached 87 percent completion.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) said six hectares of land were dredged in the past six days alone, with 55 out of 63 hectares dredged so far.
The government aims to complete all dredging works within the next six months. The project is expected to reach completion on schedule if no complications arise.
The dredging project, which began in 2023, faced various delays and resumed after a hiatus on 10 November. To expedite the final phase of work, the government has deployed two large dredgers, including Boskalis’ train suction hopper dredger, which began operations on 28 November.
