Saudi Arabian government has announced King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is set to visit Maldives in March as part of his tour of the Asian region.
Saudi government announced this Monday that during his tour, King Salman will visit Indonesia, Japan, China, Malaysia and Maldives.
An official from the Saudi embassy in Maldives who spoke to “Sun” said that King Salman was scheduled to pledge aid to Maldives during the visit, but wasn’t forthcoming with any further details.
During the function to celebrate opening a harbor in F. Magoodhoo last January, President Yameen announced that the Saudi government had expressed interest in running a huge business project in F. Atoll.
He described the business venture as a “town ship” of a variety of businesses, and said such a venture existed in just two or three places in the world.
King Salman’s visit to Maldives is part official and part leisure.
A team of Saudi officials have already arrived in Maldives in preparation for his visit.
King Salman made an official visit to Maldives back in 2014 when he had been the Crown Prince. And returned once afterwards on vacation.
