Former Executive Coordinator at the youth ministry, Mohamed Shinan has accused parliamentarians of accepting "corrupt" money.
Shinan made the claim at a press conference held by Maldives Third-Way Democratic (MTD) on Sunday night, where he accused "all but three" parliamentarians of accepting corrupt money. This was the party's first press conference since being given approval to register as a political party.
While Shinan gave his 'word' on the matter, he did not disclose any names.
However, he said that his is "ready to testify in court".
Shinan also called for a "fair trial" for former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, who has been implicated in the biggest embezzlement scandal in the country's history.
Claiming that he did not join MTD to work for Adeeb's release, Shinan said that "if he is jailed, so should former President Abdulla Yameen," adding that there is no way for Yameen or members of his Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) to hide from the repercussions of their actions.
Despite his 33-year jail sentence and pending court cases, Adeeb is currently under house arrest due to health issues and was the first to sign onto MTD.
