STO has sponsored one athlete of Maldives for a year. This was done as part of their CSR to help the efforts of SportsMV to train Maldivian athletes.
At a ceremony held at STO, the secretary general of Olympic committee handed “partners of MV Sports” baton to Ahmed Niyaz the chairman of STO.
Speaking the ceremony Niyaz said that STO will continue to support sports in Maldives and their aim is to see Maldivian athletes getting good name for Maldives in sports.
He further said that, it is a wish of the President to see good athletes in the Maldives. He also said that STO wishes to see the athletes they sponsor to win international championships.
The secretary general of Olympic Committee Marzooq thanked STO for their continuous help to promote sports in the Maldives.
Marzooq also said that there are 32 notable athletes in the Maldives and they aim to get scholarships for all 32 of them. He said that even now scholarships have been secured for 7 of them.
