China will give full cooperation to develop Maldivian health sector

China has revealed that they will give full cooperation to the Maldives to develop the Maldivian health sector.
Mr. Liu Qiang, Charge d’affiaires and Deputy Head of Mission of the Chinese Embassy made this remark at the Handover Ceremony of Medical Equipment and Grant to the Maldives.
He said that the Chinese Embassy has decided to donate some urgently needed medical equipment including infant incubator, labour monitoring machine, and oxygen concentrator etc. worth 500,000 MVR to the Hithadhoo Regional Hospital in Addu, and donate a medical grant of 20,000 USD to the Health Ministry of Malidves.
He expressed hopes that through the medical assistance, the people of Maldives can have better medical facilities and enjoy better life.
Mr. Liu Qiang also announced that Ms. Li Bin, the Chinese Minister of National Health and Family Planning, will be holding talks this month with Acting Minister of Health Nazim to discuss more ways of how China and Maldives can cooperate in health area.
“We believe that with a series of efforts like this, the Chinese side can further help the Maldivian side to develop its health services so that more people in Maldives can benefit from the friendship and cooperation between China and Maldives,” he said.
“As we all know, not long ago, the Chinese President H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping has made a successful state visit to the Maldives. During the historical visit, China and Maldives agreed to establish a Future-Oriented All-round Friendly and ‎Cooperative Partnership between the two countries. The two sides also decided to jointly build the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road to enhance our cooperation in social and economic development,” Mr. Liu Qiang noted.
He said that it is known that the Maldives acutely needs assistance in the development of health services, therefore, one of the positive from the outcome of President Xi Jinping’s visit was that the Maldivian Ministry of Health and the Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission signed an MoU on health cooperation, which will guide the two sides to actively engage in areas of personnel exchange, disease prevention & control, Traditional Chinese Medicine, medical tourism.
