A devoted father unintentionally saved the life of his wife – all because he forgot to kiss goodbye to his five-year-old daughter before leaving for work.
Phil Brace walked out the door as usual، except he forgot his usual goodbye for daughter Katie.
He called out for his wife، Rachel Brace، and، when she didn’t respond، he went looking for her and found her collapsed on the floor having suffered a stroke.
The 32-year-old mother-of-two was rushed to the hospital where she made a full recovery after undergoing thrombolysis treatment to break down blood clots in her brain.
Doctors later suggested the rapid actions of Mr Brace may well have had a major effect on his wife’s recovery.
She said of the incident: ‘My husband is my hero because he found me and saved my life. The problem is، many people do not know the signs and symptoms of a stroke.
‘He looked at me and could just tell – the left side of my face had dropped and I couldn’t use my left arm or leg.’
Mrs Brace also suffered from short-term memory loss and anxiety as a result of the stroke.
The couple are now holding a charity abseil to raise money for stroke charities.
