Authorities have arrested an individual along with narcotics in possession، who had kidnapped a 17 year old boy in to a building which was under construction.
Maldives Police Service had arrested a 23 year old local male as the prime suspect of the crime.
The suspect had looted off the victim، when the latter had been going from Janavaree Magu around 19:00hrs last night. The culprit had snatched the mobile، wrist watch and cash from the 17 year old. The incident was reported to police authorities around 22:00hrs last night، which was followed by an operation by Galolhu Police Station officers to trace the suspect.
The culprit was brought under police arrest around 23:00hrs last night، while he was near Ooredoo’s head office at Majeedhee Magu.
Officers who made the arrest had run a body check on the suspect، upon inspection police were able to find 4 rubber packets containing what was believed to be illegal narcotics items.
The arrested suspect had been held by authorities for questioning on 33 counts، brought under police custody 19 times while he was arrested on 10 occasions. The suspect has previous records of narcotics possession and robbery.
Currently Family and Child Protection Unit of Maldives Police Service is probing the case.
