Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that approximately MVR 2.6 billion has been cost as expenditure for road and harbor development projects through Maldives.
Answering to a question raised by a Parliament member today during Majlis sitting، Dr. Muizzu stated that the expenditure of the current ongoing harbor projects cost MVR 1.5 billion while road development projects have cost MVR 1.1 billion – total of MVR 2.6 billion accounted for.
Minister had also added that while 19 harbor projects have concluded، 28 similar projects are already “work-in-progress.”
Housing Minister had also detailed that a total of 12 island’s projects are in the process of EIA formalities، while 17 projects planned for this year are currently through tendering process.
“Therefore a total of 57 harbor development projects will proceed through Maldives” Dr. Muizzu added.
In addition to this، Dr. Muizzu also stated that a total of 52 harbors – per island a harbor – has been completed between 2012 to 2015، adding that 40 additional projects of harbor development are in progress، with 12 in EIA process and 17 in tendering process.
