Correctional Service: President Nasheed would remain in prison now

Maldives Correctional Service has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed would be serving out the rest of his 13-year sentence in prison.
While the former president was taken back into the custody of the Correctional Services after two months under house arrest, the Media Official of the Maldives Correctional Services, Moosa Rameez told Sun Media tonight that from now on, President Nasheed would remain in Maafushi Prison in his dedicated unit.
“(He’s) being moved to the special unit for President Nasheed. He would be serving the rest of his sentence there.” Moosa Rameez said.
Rameez said that the decision to move the former president was made under doctor’s advisement.
Former President Nasheed was moved to house arrest on 21 June under doctor’s advisement to move him to a stress free environment. The Correctional Services said that after two months, President Nasheed in being taken back to prison after reviewing the doctor’s reports.
President Mohamed Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison in March 2015 for ordering the abduction of the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed in 2012 as the commander in chief, during his presidency.
