All suspects involved in Addu unrest released

All 16 suspects arrested following the unrest at an event of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in Feydhoo, Addu City, have been released.
The police spokesperson said that the seven suspects who remained in custody out of the 16 who were arrested, were released at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
They were released when taken to court for detention period hearings, said the spokesperson.
MDP supporters at the event in Feydhoo on Friday evening were attacked by a group of masked men. Six out of the 16 suspects were released by the court on the same night.
A police officer was among those who were injured in the attacks, where stones were thrown at MDP supporters. The police spokesperson said that the officer who was injured was released yesterday, after being treated at Feydhoo Health Centre.
