Nasheed concludes campaign travels

Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) presidential candidate Mohamed Nasheed has concluded his campaign travels for the 2013 presidential elections in Addu City on Tuesday.
Speaking at a campaign event in Addu City’s Hithadhoo Stadium last night, Nasheed announced the end of his campaign travels and said that he will spend the next few days, ahead of the presidential election scheduled for the 7th of September, in the capital Male’.
“Tonight is the night that I conclude my campaign trips to the islands, in preparation for the 2013 presidential elections. After tonight, God willing, I will spend the next few days in Male’,” the former president said.
Nasheed concluded his trip by making generous campaign promises for the development of Addu City. He said that under their 137 different projects promised for the islands under their manifesto, an MDP government will continue the development of Gan International Airport and upgrade Hithadhoo Port to international standards.
He also promised to establish a new hospital with modern facilities in Addu City, along with a contemporary football ground and a University.
He said that his government will transform Addu City and equip it with every facility expected of city, join all the islands in the atoll and establish tourist facilities with 1000 beds.
Speaking at his conclusion event last night, Nasheed said that his rival candidates are making unclear promises and that their pledges are not accompanied by the proper implementation policies. He reiterated his campaign slogan Ehburun, (through the first round) and said with conviction that his rivals believe that he will succeed.
