All passengers of “Savaaree” boat which ran aground on reef while traveling with 181 people on board have been rescued.
MNDF informs that except the 10 crew members، all other passengers have been transferred to Coastguard ship Shaheed Ali some time today morning.
Although MNDF did not comment anything on rescuing the boat، information has been received to Vaguthu that MNDF and crew members of the boat are trying to free the boat off the reef.
MNDF informed last night that “Savaaree” boat، travelling from Malé to Th. Atoll ran aground with 181 people on board at 11.06 pm last night.
MNDF Coastguard ship Shaheed Ali، Harbour Craft 114 and M. Atoll Dhiggaru police were active in the area where the boat ran aground.
The boat ran aground on “Mulhohkondu” reef which is 6 nautical miles away from M. Atoll. The boat departed from Malé at 4 pm yesterday evening.
