President assures citizen-centric developmental plans for N. Maafaru

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that developmental plans for N. Maafaru will take a citizen-centric approach, with adjustments made in line with the community’s needs and concerns.
Addressing the residents, the President pledged that the issues raised by the community would be incorporated into the island’s development strategy.
Highlighting the health sector, he stated that revisions to the existing plans would be made to address residents’ concerns, including the recommencement of the health centre development. President Dr Muizzu also announced the addition of four classrooms as part of efforts to enhance the island’s education sector.
The President further pledged to upgrade the island’s sports facilities. With regard to infrastructure development, he confirmed that the road development project would begin later this year. Additionally, he committed to a comprehensive upgrade of Maafaru International Airport and its tertiary services.
President Dr Muizzu also noted that Maafaru is among the islands identified for housing projects in 2026, in line with his Administration’s aim of providing affordable housing solutions nationwide. He pledged his commitment to addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges.
During his visit, the President also inaugurated the island’s newly completed water and sanitation networks.
The trip is part of the President’s initiative to tour all Maldivian atolls and engage directly with the councils at the island, atoll, and city levels. He is accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from key Government institutions.
