Maldivian Launches Direct Flights from Hanimaadhoo to Bangalore

The national carrier of the Maldives, Maldivian, has officially launched direct flights between Hanimaadhoo International Airport and Bangalore, India, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity.
The airline announced that the new route will operate twice weekly—on Sundays and Thursdays—enabling passengers from northern Maldives to fly directly to Bangalore without transiting through Malé. This is expected to greatly reduce travel time and ease access for those traveling for medical, educational, business, or leisure purposes.
Bangalore remains one of the most popular international destinations for Maldivians, particularly for healthcare and higher education. The airline noted that this new link will not only enhance convenience for Maldivian travelers but also open doors for Indian tourists to explore the scenic northern atolls of the Maldives—an area known for its natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
“These direct flights offer a smoother, faster travel experience while promoting tourism in the northern region,” Maldivian said in a statement. “We are committed to expanding our network based on passenger demand and strengthening regional ties in a sustainable way.”
