Scout HQ temporarily closes as it vacates old premises, but is unable to find a new one

The National Scout headquarters and the Scout Shop were forced to temporarily close on Wednesday, after the Scout Association of Maldives was instructed to vacate its old premises, but was unable to find a new one to relocate to.
The Scout Association announced the closure of the Scout HQ and Scout Shop on Wednesday.
According to the association, it was asked to vacate its old premises by Wednesday, but was unable to arrange an alternative location.
“Following the instruction to vacate the National Scout Headquarters and Scout Shop by 10 September 2025, and with no alternative premises arranged at this time, both the Headquarters and Shop will be temporarily closed until a new location is secured,” said the Scout Association, as it apologized for the inconvenience.

Back on the National Scout Day in May, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had acknowledged the need for greater government support towards Scout activities.
He highlighted on the poor state of the building that housed Scout HQ, and pledged to facilitate financial and infrastructure support to Scout Association.
“They are faced with many challenges. They have no home, and have to move around in an old rundown building. This is not how it should be,” he said.
The Scout HQ was most recently run out of the old Arabiyya School building in Chaandhanee Magu. The building is severely rundown, and Arabiyya was moved out of the building in 2022 after it was deemed too unsafe.
