The Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, Dr. Mariyam Mariya, has assured full government support for youth-led initiatives to advance agriculture in Th. Kandhoo.
During a meeting with the youth association Th. Kandhoo Ekuveringe Roohu (Spirit of Th. Kandhoo Friends), Dr. Mariya discussed the group’s plans to enhance agricultural productivity on the island. The association sought the Ministry’s cooperation, technical guidance, and training opportunities to expand agricultural development at the community level.
Commending the determination and proactive spirit of the Kandhoo youth, Dr. Mariya reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting citizen-driven projects that promote sustainable agriculture and strengthen food security nationwide.
“We assured the Ministry’s full cooperation and interest in assisting community-led initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and ensuring food security across the Maldives,” said Dr. Mariya.
The meeting is expected to further accelerate the association’s ongoing agricultural projects and foster stronger collaboration between the Ministry and local communities in developing sustainable food systems.
In turn, Th. Kandhoo Ekuveringe Roohu expressed appreciation for the Minister’s encouragement and conveyed their eagerness to continue working closely with the Ministry in future agricultural initiatives.
