The Maldives Media Council and the Bank of Maldives jointly organized a financial journalism workshop on Saturday. The workshop was held at the Manhattan Business Hotel.
The workshop was divided into five sessions. The role of banks in the economy, the criteria used by banks in issuing loans and the development of digital banking were also shared.
They also provided information on the efforts of financial institutions to prevent money laundering and financing of terrorism, financial analysis and reporting. They also explained how fraudulent money is being raised and what the public should do to protect themselves. The work being done by the bank in such situations was also highlighted.
A total of 25 participants including journalists and the Media Council participated in the workshop.
