HDC lifts suspension of some employees following investigation

HDC (Housing Development Corporation) announced today that they have lifted the suspension of some employees who were suspended in connection with the criminal investigation into the Gedhoruveriya/Binveriya scheme.
Last December, 15 employees, including some from senior management, were suspended. They were later terminated from their positions that month, but three days later they were reinstated and suspended again.
An HDC media official said that based on the investigation, the suspension of some employees has been lifted. However, no further details are available yet.
Of the 15 suspended employees, all except one were very close associates of Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, who resigned from the position of Managing Director of HDC last December.
HDC Board Chairman Ahmed Nasif (Didi) previously told "Mihaaru" that HDC is taking necessary measures to facilitate the investigation. He said that the company's internal affairs are being arranged to accommodate the ongoing investigation by the police and ACC (Anti-Corruption Commission).
The ACC and police launched a major investigation after it was revealed that a plot of land was given to Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, Deputy Managing Director of MWSC and brother of then-HDC Managing Director Fazul, even though he did not meet the eligibility criteria for the Binveriya scheme.
In this case, Fazul is accused of destroying certain HDC documents.
