Police have urged the public not to share photos or footage of the man who was found dead after falling from a STELCO flat in Hulhumale' Phase Two.
In a statement, police requested restraint out of respect for the grieving family, saying, "At this time of grief for the family, we request the public not to circulate photos of the deceased and scenes of the incident on social media."
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Ibrahim Shareef.
He is believed to have fallen from the ninth-floor balcony of a STELCO flat building sometime last night. However, his body was only discovered on the ground floor of STELCO Tower C late this afternoon.
Authorities have not disclosed further details, and police have said that an investigation is underway.
