President declares 28 July a Government holiday

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Monday, 28 July, 2025, as a Government holiday to commemorate this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
As this year marks the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ independence, several activities scheduled to take place in celebration of Independence Day. In addition to the events scheduled for Sunday, 27 July, the programme also includes significant activities for Monday, 28 July. Therefore, the President has declared 28 July as a Government holiday.
