Govt is taking 30 % from the wages of the common people- Ali Hussein

Ali Hussein, Kendhoo constituency MP has said that the government is now taking 30 percent of the wages of the common people.
Ali Hussein made this remark speaking at the public rally of the “Maldivians against tyranny” movement.
He said that the import duties taken in addition to the 6 percent GST taken from basic commodities are also indirect taxes taken from the people.
Ali Hussein said that the government is taking 30 Ruffiya from every 100 Ruffiya from the income generated by the people.
“The government does not even to reconsider when they take so much from the people. The reality is that the one who earns 4000 ruffiya he has to pay at least 1200 as taxes,” he said.
He said that more than 30 percent will be taken with the removal of the subsidy given to the people for electricity.
