Bank accounts belonging to former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Ghafoor, ex-wife and parents have been frozen.
Various local media sources have confirmed the reports.
The state had filed terror charges on weapons possession charges against the former VP. Misappropriation of funds from the sale of fifty islands and connected corruption charges had also been filed against him. Criminal Court had extended his remand for the duration of the trial.
Adeeb had attended a hearing in Civil Court to hear a case he had filed against the state, accusing authorities of discrimination between other prisoners and him, for visitation rights for the members of his family.
Adeeb requested the Court to issue a ruling by which authorities would not differentiate between him and other detainees.
