MP for Vilimale’ Constituency Ahmed Nihan has stated that even though former President Mohamed Nasheed had alleged that the Government was full of corrupt individuals, it was the former President who were acting in defense of corrupt individuals
Nihan said that Nasheed had declared corrupt individuals as innocent of their crimes without a trial or investigation.
Speaking in the third campaign symposium in Dharubaaruge, MP Nihan said that character assassination campaigns had been carried out against President Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim,
adding that there were no viable candidates from the opposition for 2018. He added that the only possible candidate was serving a 13 year jail term, with no additional candidates as the internal politics was overruling common sense.
Nihan further said that character assassination campaigns had been carried out against the President Yameen and First Lady were not new.
He also had issued an invitation to former President Nasheed to return back home to review the progress of the China Maldives Friendship Bridge.
