Home Minister Umar Naseer has stated that attackers of lawyer Mahfooz Saeed will have to face justice.
Minister Umar said that the Friday’s attack was a senseless act and that he condemned the attack. He also noted that the attack had come after a period of extreme calm.
Maldivian Foreign Ministry had tweeted that the attack was a vicious and cowardly attack and that the Government remained committed for thorough investigation to bring perpetrators to justice.
Police Media Official reported that the investigation into the case was ongoing and added that so far no suspects have been detained.
The two inch knife was removed from Mahfooz’s head by a team of four surgeons of IGMH. The Hospital reports that he was recovering from the surgery and that his vision had not been affected by the attack.
