Second-time remand extension on MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed and Adaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdullah has been presented to High Court for appeal.
Following the Mayday protest events، both men were arrested on the offense of leading protesters to violence. Both men were granted a 15-day remand period. The remand period had expired recently، with Sheikh Imran granted another 10 day on his remand while Ali Waheed was granted a 7-day period.
Both Ali Waheed and Sheikh Imran had appealed to High Court right after their first remand sentence، however High Court had ruled in favor of Criminal Court.
Jumhooree Party’s deputy leader Ameen Ibrahim was also arrested on his involvement in Mayday event، he was granted a 15 day remand period، however Ameen was released when his case was appealed to High Court.
Ameen’s release case had been presented by the state government to Supreme Court yesterday.
