Civil Court tables Nasheed lawsuit hearing for today

The hearing of former President Mohamed Nasheed’s lawsuit questioning the legitimacy of the Judges’ bench of Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court has been tabled today evening by the Civil Court.
The case was filed at Civil Court on Monday following the dismissal of the lawsuit from the High Court.
The verdict of High Court states the lawsuit of Nasheed was filed with reference to a circular issued by the Supreme Court، however، it cannot proceed any further at the court.
Following the case appealed at Civil Court، Nasheed’s Lawyer Ahmed Abdul Afeef said the case of Judicial Service Commission assigning a bench at Hulhumalé court from their own judicial body must be reviewed and presented to High Court and if should any circumstances present itself prohibiting such cases to be presented at the said court then it should be presented to a court of relevance.
President Nasheed filed a lawsuit questioning the legitimacy of the bench of Hulhumale’ Court judges appointed by JSC to oversee the charges pressed against him for detaining Criminal Court chief justice Abdulla Mohamed during his Presidential term.
