MP Ali Mauroof، who represents Henbadhoo in the parliament have said that، the sewerage system project will begin in Henbadhoo this year.
At present people make junctions on their own. Not have a proper sewerage system is a big problem in the island. Mauroof said that it is among his campaign pledges to make sure that a sewerage system is established in the island within his term.
” The project is in the designing phase now، we will start the project this year” said Mauroof.
The ground water in the island has been spoiled due to unsafe mechanisms used to get rid of waste. Also the islanders said that they have to clean the junctions every three months and it is a huge burden for them.
Speaking to Vaguthu a council member of Henbadhoo said that، the design phase of the project is now completed and they have sent it to Environment Ministry for approval. MP Mauroof also said that، the problems faced by the people with regard to electricity will also be solved this year. He further said that if he is not able to deliver his campaign promises he will not go and ask for their votes during the next election.
