In meeting held by the Education Minister during the School Adoption program held at Hiriyaa School the education minister was humbled by praise from school principals. They thanked the minister for her assistance in developing the schools of Maldives.
She stated that she was humbled by the praise and the principals continued to praise her. The minister said that previously schools were not regarded as that important. “ It was important for some people. It is not important for everyone. So, that is why we should work to make sure that the schools are important for everyone. Then only we can achieve what we want” said the Minister.
The minister said that now, if a student is absent even for a day the school will contact the student and the student would be brought to school within three days. “We will not be tired in our work to improve the standards of the schools and to increase the pass percentage. We will not give up” said the minister.
In addition, Minister Shihaam said that the president’s policy is to make sure that all students are in the school system till they are at least 14 years old. She said that students who complete 14 years in the school system should pass at least in some areas. The minister said that the schools should have the capability to achieve this goal.
