Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of Commonwealth to Maldives, Dr. Willy Mutunga has come back to Maldives in his second visit in a little over a month.
“Sun” has been informed that Mutunga arrived in Maldives on Saturday, and will stay in the country until next Friday.
Mutunga was assigned the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland back in June.
He made his first trip to Maldives on July 31, meeting with Maldivian political leaders during his stay.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, though it did not officially announce Mutunga’s arrival, has reported that he paid a call on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim at his office on Sunday morning.
In his tweet after ending his first trip to Maldives, Mutunga said listed the things he found to be most outstanding about the country to be the beauty of its islands, the fact that it had stamped out malaria, and the few vehicles that stand guard in the presidential motorcade.Three observations on the Maldives : beautiful islands and clean waters around them; malaria free; a presidential motorcade of TWO vehicles— Dr Willy M Mutunga (@WMutunga) August 16, 2016
The tweet rattled some who questioned whether Mutunga was more concerned about the presidential motorcade than the turbulent political situation of the country.
