A dead body has been discovered in the area previously designated for a water theme park in Hulhumale'.
Police confirmed Monday that the deceased was male and was found within the theme park's allocated space.
No further details regarding the man or the ongoing investigation have been released by the police.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Malaysia's Miri Housing signed an agreement on July 13, 2017, to build the Maldives' first water theme park for USD 25 million. The project, initiated under former president Yameen Abdul Qayoom, stalled before its late 2018 completion date, leading HDC to report the contract to the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2021 under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
